📖 How the Dog BMI Formula Works
Dog BMI is calculated using a modified version of the human BMI formula:
- Formula: BMI = Weight (kg) ÷ [Height (m)]²
- < 18: Underweight — may need nutritional support
- 18 – 24: Normal weight — ideal body condition
- 24 – 29: Overweight — diet and exercise recommended
- > 29: Obese — veterinary guidance strongly advised
